Any Bikers (Thats Peddle Bike) in the crowd?

Post by 200hr Wonder »

Having spent the past six months as a bike commuter, I must say I enjoy getting out before/after work for a quick ride to work. Find I get to work feeling better and it is a good way to just chill out for 20min on the way home. Hey I live close to work. Really sucks when the rain is coming down but good rain gear makes it tolerable.

Anyhow the whole point of this post is to highly recommend Steveston Bicycle & Kayak Shoppe. My brother got me a gift certificate for a tune up so I took it to Tony. On a bike that is over 7 years old and I have not sunk a dime into I knew that it was not going to be cheap. Tony took the time to explain what was wrong and needed to be change and gave me a few different options. The cheap, the complete. He even found a used front derailleur when the front new bottom bracket which needed to be changed was incompatible with a newer style bottom bracket. So for all of you with a new years resolution take your wheels in to see Tony and get out on the road!

I'm a kind-of-a-biker. Occasionally to work and enjoy the Vancouver sea wall.

I keep wishing somebody would steal my bike to put me out of my misery but nobody does.

If you ride a lot, it's always nice to have a tame bike shop owner...regular discounts of ~10% tend to sweeten the pot a whole bunch..

I try to get out on my Cervelo S1 at least 3 times a week. I have a 25 km loop I do, and I try and get in about 50-60 kms on weekends. Last sumer was a little quiet, but I'm planning to get off the couch more this year.
Pure road bike. My wife is into tri-sports, including Ironman. I just try and keep up.

I live in Richmond and my bike needs something, bring it to that guy. Been to a couple other bike shops in initial explorations, but he's definitely the best out there, just ... all sorts of awesome, how a business should be run! Did the same with me when my shoddy bike needed a series of repairs, outlined what was priority for keeping in my budget and recommending the rest needed. If you're in the area, +1 on a high recommendation!

If you're anywhere near YWG, Alter Ego, on Pembima Highway is as good as it gets. These guys will spend time assuring you get the right fit in a bike. If you're putting down 2.5 large, or more on a bike, you're probably wasting your $$ if you don't get a "fit" done on the bike.
