Just got my latest monthly statement from my local money lender, and yet more 'service' fees Anyone have any experience (good or bad) with ING Bank?

I'm with a credit union... unlimited transactions for $0 per month.

I have ING Direct's Chequeing account. No fees here. What type of lending? Mortgage?

I use PC Financial for chequing. If you're checking out no-fee options they have the bonus of being able to us CIBC ATMs.

They're not 100% "no fee" but the basics are all free.

I've been with ING for several years. No problems to report. Good interest rates. Ally is also similar with even slightly better interest rates. Neither give you "real" or "regular" banking services. For that, I have TD, with a little stashed away in it to get past the no-fee limit and I'm very happy with the service, although there's no interest. (Still, you make up for it by never paying a penny on fees.)

Whatever you go with, just make sure it's CDIC insured.

I've been using PC Financial for about a decade. They are a pain to start with but once you get things set up like getting them to clear cheques right away and give you a line of credit they're pretty good. I think the only real annoying fee is the over draft, you'll want to avoid that. I probably could have been paying fees all this time but I managed to waste that money on something else instead.

I also have a mortgage with ING and never had a problem, in fact its been quite the opposite and very easy, stress free. But I also dont get monthly statements, only yearly, so I will be checking this one closely this year.

Whatever you do stay away from CIBC. I had so much trouble with them and my mortgage account I had to get the ombudsman involved to straighten matters out. In the end I left. They held up my mortgage renewal over a $1.17 arrears payment. The rest is way to long a story to type on here.

I've been with ING for several years and have had no fees charged, then I'm only using the savings accounts, no mortgage or chequing.

Sept. of '09 we attended a conference in Long Beach and the chairman of ING Direct Arkadi Kulman (sp?) was a guest speaker. He's a Canadian by the way. A very driven and direct individual. I don't think you could ever meet a more anti-bank banker anywhere. He stated ING was made for the "little" guy and they were absolutely not interested in big deals or big players. Their entire income is based on the spread between what they can earn with your money vs. what they pay in interest. No fees or extra charges applied ever.....
Strangely enough, while they don't have bank branches they have a few coffee shops in big centres with ING Direct employees serving the coffee and offering banking advice. Well, thats what he said!! Has anyone ever seen one of these coffee shops?? Maybe in Vancouver or Toronto?
My wife has an account with them but I am not allowed near it. Something about spending money foolishly on aviation stuff.....

There's a ING coffee shop thing here in downtown YYC. Never went in it, looks like a banking branch from the outside.
