Kenn borek gear collapse?

Post by Squid »

Just looking through the cadors and noticed the had a gear collapse after landing dec 31

It basically says they took off and the gear wouldn't come up, then landed but the mains folded on touchdown.
I hear the captain went to transat 2 days later! That doesn't matter but more importantly does anyone know what the cause was? Hydraulics? If I remember don't the 200's have a nitrogen blow down?

Not sure of the cause but most 200's have the gear driven by a chain and sprocket (electrically). Some have an older mod added which is hydraulic and have a nitrogen blow down. Newer models are a more up to date hydraulic system very similar to what the 1900's have.

Older BE20 have the "gear pump", basically a transmission which is pumped to turn the chain and torque tubes to drive the nose and mains down and lock them. Newer models have the nitrogen back up.
