Deicer boot removal
I spent 6hrs+ today attempting to remove adhesive bonding with a plastic scraper from the leading edge of a Kingair 200 after the deicer boot was removed. Is there any products out there that ease the job besides MEK or does that just happen to be the nature of it? I was told a gasket remover spray isn't so bad, except it takes off paint on the structure.

Get a product called PEERCO 321 Adhesive remover. It is available from Aviall.
It won't hurt paint but it takes adhesive (1300L) off pretty good. It even smells nice, like oranges. It dosesn't bite your skin and burn like Turco or Talstrip do.

Turco paint stripper with applied to the L.E., then throw a piece of poly over it and a ceramic heater under. Heater makes a big difference in the effectiveness of paint stripper.

That Peerco works pretty good, just don't let it stay on too long or it dries and is hard to get off too.
Yes, it smells good too....I tell my engineers it is full of vitamins and minerals but maybe a quick read of the MSDS would be interesting!!!

Seems pretty tame compared to old school removers.

Peerco is not a paint stripper. It is designed specifically to remove adhesive. You can dribble it on painted surfaces and it will not hurt the paint. It is pretty tame, and tastes better than old school strippers

I've done this a bunch of times before. Tape a sheet of poly using aluminum tape to the paint line under the leading edge. Fold the poly over the top of the leading edge. Throw a bunch of shop towels in between the leading edge and poly. Pour MEK, lacquer thinner or toluene over the rags and tape up the folded over edges of the poly. You should have created a bag over the leading edge. Let it sit for an hour and make sure you don't have any solvent leakage on to the paint. After the hour is up, remove the poly and rags and the 1300L will just about fall off!
