ZK-NEQ Dash 8-311 No Nose gear landing on video Feb 9/11

Post by bizjets101 »

An Air Nelson de Havilland Dash 8-300 on behalf of Air New Zealand, registration ZK-NEQ performing flight NZ-8306 from Hamilton to Wellington (New Zealand) with 41 passengers and 3 crew, aborted the approach to Wellington after the crew received an unsafe indication for the nose gear after lowering the landing gear.

The airplane subsequently diverted to Blenheim where the airplane performed a low approach confirming the nose gear was not down. After working the checklists in an attempt to get the nose gear down into the locked position and some more low approaches the crew landed the aircraft at Blenheim with the nose gear in its near up position so that the airplane skidded to a halt on its nose and the main gear about 45 minutes past its scheduled arrival in Wellington. No injuries occurred.

What an amazing display of flying finesse! That nose came down more gently than most landings I've done WITH a nose wheel!
