More and more people (that I talk to) seem to be coming from aviation college programs. Those that haven't are talking about getting into one.
My question. Does having an aviation degree really get you extra points in the application process?
I strayed away from the whole aviation diploma deal for one reason... Fall back readiness. If I ever lose my medical, or do something incredibly stupid that results in a loss of license, I want to have something I can do with my life.

Re: Degrees vs Av Degrees
I went to University for a year but decided it just wasn't for me. I've decided to go to a college for aviation because I want something on my resume that provides me with more than a High School diploma as far as credentials.
To be clear, I'm not knocking individuals that "only" have a high school diploma. I know plenty of people that I would consider much wiser and more mature than those in post secondary institutions. In fact, 99% of the time those with real world, practical knowledge are more useful than those with university (theory) educations. I've known some smart people that were pretty stupid.
However, in this day and age employers seem to, more and more, be looking for continuing education credentials in lieu of life experience. In its own way having an aviation degree is a fallback for me.
My dream career paths are flying and/or policing. I know i'm too young and "inexperienced" to realistically pursue a police career. So pursuing a degree in something I know I will enjoy and excel at is the best option for me.
