According to the International Energy Agency, peak oil is behind us.

Yep. The glass is litteraly half empty, and China + India are just joining the party.

Gotta go. There's a sale at my local gun shop. And I have to finish my fallout shelter too. :smt040

Was thinking of a response but Xander's comment sums it up the best.

Seems like everything is converging at once. Not only did we hit the peak in oil production but China and India, requiring increasing amounts in energy, have started to really gallop economically at this precise time. America, and the rest of the world, have staggering debts. The U.S. introducing trillions through 'quantitative easing'(ie. just printing money) Devaluation of the 'greenback' and other nations calling for an end to it.

I got introduced to PeakOil back in 2004. Some, the likes of Colin Cambell and the late Matt Simmons, were saying that the peak was imminent but we wouldn't be able to confirm it until a few years later. For the IEA to confirm this fact it's got to be pretty serious. Personally I feel that we will still have enough oil to have a semblance of a modern life, but we will have less money for luxuries and the cycle between recessions will be quicker and more severe.

Strange... the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of PeakOil isn't about having enough to eat or to retire but about the future of aviation.
