Kelowna flightcraft questions

Hey folks.
I'm looking ahead a year or more and thinking about applying at KFC, my family is around YBW. I've got my ATP, + >2500 TT, (2000 total PIC, 750 Multi, (250 Multi PIC.)). Is this a good start to look for an FO seat at KFC? Where are most of the guys being based? I really dont want to go to Hamilton, it may be nice but I want Kelowna. Whats the Schedule like?
Any experienced input is appreciated.
Thanks

All new hires are currently to the Second Officer position. Are you prepared to play the piano for a few years before your move to First Officer?

Have you or do you work for KFC? Your post made it sound like you do.
I'd really like to work there. Finally settle around YBW so my little guy can know his family.
Play the piano? lol. I've never heard that one. Does KFC treat the rear seat as a probationary period? Or would I be stuck behind somebody with 500 hours and a bad attitude for a promotion? I just dont know if I could afford to live on the SO wages for an extended period. I've got no issues with learning the operation from the back for as long as it takes. If someone with 10,000 hrs and ooddles of Multi PIC applies is he going to hear, "We only hire for the rear seat"? Just asking.
Whats the Schedule like?
Thanks!

It's a unionized company, so take your number and wait in line. From what I know, the wait for a front seat is 3 years plus. Moreover, I believe that Kelowna is a senior base. Good luck.

A friend of mine is working for them and is based in Saskatoon. Good luck with Kelowna, as other's said it's a senior base and the company is nation wide. At least you can stay south of 60.
Don't worry about playing the piano, the S/O seat is the most comfy one in the '27.

Plus it's a good way to break into heavy jet flying and one that is arguably lacking from the days of yesteryear.
The rest of the company is full of BS. Maybe the pilot side is different, but they treated the AMEs like crap and made it like they were doing you a favour by letting you work for them. I won't even send them a resume.
Hope you like night flying.

Pilots are treated like crap too. However, if you dont mind violating CARS you might get treated a little better.

That's a fairly serious allegation. Care to back it up with a little fact? Personally I think you're just talking out your ass.

Even if I could, I wouldnt. Personally you can think whatever you want. Just trying to protect other pilots from ending up at a lousy company.

That's what I thought, you haven't worked there so you don't have a clue what you're talking about.

So either you've got nothing, or you're a coward. We're all waiting on your selection. What are you protecting us from, great one?

A company that violates CAR's doesn't stick around for 40 years. Plus you've just insulted every pilot in that company. I happen to know quite a few of them and they are one of the most professional and dedicated pilot groups in the business. So get your facts straight and stop talking out your ass.

The AMO is a big reason for their 40 year history. And also the fact that they dont/could not compete in the passenger market with their fleet type. So, that leaves cargo and maintenance.
I don't know anyone there so maybe someone else can correct some the information people are providing.
Having said that and back to the original post. With your time, you deserve more then then the back seat.

C'mon, speak your mind. I cant imagine why anybody would make up a bunch of b.s. like this for no reason. I know people who work there as well as some former employees who I'm sure would not doubt whatever it is that you are thinking. Maybe if more people would speak out about their bad experiences, companies who violate regulations and/or treat their employees unfairly will be exposed. I cant see why anybody (except guilty offenders) would be against that.

What am I protecting you from? I figured I'd let time answer this question, and it has. Anyone want to argue now that it's a great place to work? Refer to my original post....."just trying to protect other pilots from ending up at a lousy company." I think most would agree that's the opposite of cowardly.

The company has gone from 120 plus pilots down to about 40 pilots in the past 1.5 yrs.
http://infotel.ca/newsitem/kf-aerospace ... an/it22328
Lots of pilots elsewhere but holding their seniority still in case they get other contracts but not much on horizon I gather given how well cargojet is doing.
Euro flying didn't pan out.
http://skiesmag.com/news/kf-aerospace-s ... operation/
Currently flying a few DC10s from MIA to 4-5 S.American destinations
http://skiesmag.com/news/kf-aerospace-l ... -contract/
plus their short haul convair flying for canada post otherwise not much going on for pilots.
A DC 10 SO is about all you could access off the street as to get any higher there is a line up of previous employees waiting their turn. This was as of a few months ago talking to a few crew, so not sure if anything has changed since then, I doubt it.
