Re: Insurance

I have a clause in my insurance which allows me to save a bit of money on my insurance if I get an "Aircraft Proficiency Test". Can any CPL do this... or I guess any CPL with time on type or just Seaplane Rating would do? Can I do it on my airplane & would they need to be added to the aircraft insurance or sitting right seat, no. Or does it have to be an instructor to sign off my logbook or do I have to go find a school/instructor with a 180 on floats and use their airplane? I've had other check-outs which has always been done by the CP to fly their planes and one when I first bought this one on wheels and then again to get my float rating. I noticed this option last year and didn't get around to it, but the savings is enough to make it worthwhile depending on what is required. Oh, it's amphib as well if that makes any difference. I know, I can phone my broker. Looks like with as much ice on the lakes as there is right now (and snowing) that I have some time to get this organized.

Sheep,

Generally, it can be any pilot approved by your insurance company. I've done them before for pilots at our club. The insurance companies tend to demand an annual check once you hit 70 or so and we don't have an instructor on the field.

I'll do your check for free but it might have to be a week-long check to Northern Quebec!

Blakey, lookout. I might take you up on that, but insurance is due June 01 and I won't be heading up there until around Aug. 15-20th type thing. Have to see when our ice goes out. Still have 18-20" and 2' of snow still in the bush. Should be sometime by the first week of May (that's late for here) This past March would have been great ski flying. Were you out and about? Don't have anyone at the camp until the Aug. 26th, if you want to come up before then and do some flightseeing & fishing. I go Huntsville - Mattagami (I think the float base is closed)- LG4 - Camp. I think you'd be more direct going Chibougamau - LG4 - Camp. However last Sept. I came home with an overnight in Amos because of some nasty weather. That's a real nice place after being in the bush for a while.
