I've heard that the mec has voted to approve the T/A and send it to the membership. 225 pages worth...

So how many days should it be appropriate for the membership to have this lengthy document in their hands before being required to cast a deciding vote?

At that length? At least a month to read, digest & discuss the pros & cons.

I have it confirmed that the MEC has released the TA to be sent out for Membership Ratification... however, there will be no MEC recommendation attached. Also, ACPA Committee Members (Negots Committee excepted) will be prohibited from speaking out for or against the TA. So don't expect to hear anything from the Pension Committee.

I was told that they don't want members to be influenced by anyone, so that this vote can be made on an individual basis - without influence. As such, I figure the AC Pilots' Forum was also shut down in order to stifle debate until the end of the vote.

Is it just me, or is this whole TA and process is starting to smell to high heaven?

Is this new discussion forum for AC pilots and retired AC pilots only? Is there any screening to make sure no outsiders?. By shutting down the other forum it only allows for post on a public forum such as this. Not sure that's to wise. May I say ACPA is greasing a rod for their own ass with stunts like this that's of course it is true they had something to do with the shut down.

Simple solution would be to start an "Air Canada" private company forum here on Avcanada...How would we go about doing that???

Wow. What a big surprise that is. The forum is shut down the day after the MEC decides to put the TA to vote. What a huge crock of crap.

I'm hopefull, for now, that the timing is a coincidence. If it is true that ACPA has any part in the shut down of the forum then it will only serve to drive our discussions public. The new forum is not private. Anyone can go on and see what has been discussed.

Yes it looks like the new forum (link above) is not private! What a real shame that ACPA feels compiled to take such actions. If this TA was so good, it would stand on it's own merit! Looks like the MEC was divided on the vote and they influenced the forum admin to have it shut down! Why shut it down? Does anyone have a good reason?

I just spoke with a YYZ vice-chair.

No "gag order". No recommendation either way. We'll see it tomorrow. All of it.

Call or email your reps. Educate yourselves.

The MEC had nothing to do with the forum being down.

If the rumour are true it is an easy vote.

LCC at reduced wages on the same aircraft: NO
DC pension for new hires: NO
No pension indexing: NO
No settlement of outstanding profit sharing and Scope grievances: NO
Aircraft grouping and limited career advancements: NO
Wage increase not equivalent to pre-CCAA plus inflation adjustment: NO
Influencing the shut down of a private forum: NO
Allowing SkyRegional to start in violation of current contract: NO
Using non ACPA pilots at SkyRegional: NO
Executive compensation tied to EBITDAR: NO

Feel free to add to my list of reasons but there are 10 solid reasons to vote this POS down.

Don't forget, executive compensations and bonuses will be announced later this month. Unbelievable.

I lost all trust in ACPA's leadership years ago because not only are they running a myopic, short-sighted and incompetent union, but they are actively working against the long term interests of the pilot group.

Hopefully more people are beginning to see the light.
