Stay Focused

Post by GreenRookie »

My hope is that people will always enjoy what they do, as I'm sure they will if they are flying. My point is that it is incredibly important to stay focused on what you are doing. Find a good balance where your attention is on flying the plane, or doing your job well, while at the same time enjoying it.

This all stems from a stupid accident where no laws were broken and no one else was harmed. I found myself with some nasty bruises and thought I might be able to pass a small bit of advice on to other young pilots. The event was not inside an aircraft, however I feel it can be applied to aviation and training and flying.

Stay focused on what you are doing. Being distracted while flying has potential for serious consequences. Simply thinking about other things (at the time, another individual I was less than pleased with) caused me to be in a situation where I hurt myself  . Luckily, no one else was affected, but it doesn't mean it couldn't have.

So if you would, learn from my mistake. Walk away with a tidbit of advice that I gathered by not being able to walk away very well.
