If I were you I would offer to pay! Many other pilots that may have more experience, may not offer to pay. This could put you on the top of the resume pile. Include a photo (wearing Ray Bans) and a pilot shirt (no need to press it) and a tie. Bonus points are usually awarded if you are posed with a cheque book.
It is also encouraged that after paying for your type rating to pay a training bond. It is very expensive to do line indoc these days.

Sadly, this is fast becoming the norm in aviation overseas. Lion Air in Indonesia, which has about 150 B739s on order, requires a self-funded type rating plus $26,500 for 500 hours of line flying experience before they'll give you a one year contract! Just take a look at Eagle Jet International. You can buy line experience for a whole range of aircraft including 500 hours PIC time in a B747 at a cost of $40,000 (providing you have 7000 hours, 2000 hours on jets and a B747 type rating)!! They wouldn't be offering it if there wasn't suckers lining up to pay for it.YWGGuy wrote:It is also encouraged that after paying for your type rating to pay a training bond. I don't know what to say about that. Here I was joking. I honestly hope these companies fold up as quickly as possible. Disgusting!
Re: Who pay for this? you or your airline?
Forget the companies, there smart for realizing people will do this.
I say we should have a file with every pilots name and picture in it so that if you come across them you can give a big ole high five for sewering our industry.
Thank god its not like that here.

Re: Who pay for this? you or your airline?
If you can't find a company that will let you pay for your type rating, PPC and line indoc you should start your own airline. Buy a few jets and use your family's money to subsidize it until you make a profit.
Re: Who pay for this? you or your airline?
The company that hires you pays for your type rating, and if they don't you save your money and go get a job somewhere else. Some will ask you to sign a training bond, so they don't put out a bunch of money to have you go jump ship. Also, while you're being trained the company will pay you your salary. I don't have a clue how it works in India.LOCBC wrote:Hi,

If you go get a job at McDonalds, do you have to pay for your training?
