TPA holds meeting to discuss GA at CYTZ
The Toronto Port Authority will be holding a meeting on May 9 to discuss GA matters at the Island Airport. I believe details have been circulated by post to owners of planes based there and some others, but I'm sure regular visitors and others GA users would be welcome too.

Brampton, Buttonville, Oshawa, Barrie, Collingwood, Edenvale (just to name a few)........
All options because Toronto Island/ Billy Bishop will not be offering you much (but that's just my opinion).

Does not look good. So is TPA kiking GA out of CYTZ?

I don't believe there's anything in the announcement of the meeting that could lead one to conclude that GA is being "kicked out" of Billy Bishop.
If you wanted to take the opposite tack, you could equally well be pleased that the airport management is becoming more solicitous of the opinions of - and communicative with - its small GA user community.

GA is not being kicked out. The management IS allowing for a reasonable amount of input from stakeholders such as GA,, even the nutjobs at communityair...
However, the situation for GA at the island has become more challenging with traffic going from 25,000 passengers in 2005, to somewhere north of 1.3M today and growing...
It does seem things will a LOT more expensive for GA at the island, but the ever increasing cost of aviation (and decline in quality of service) is nothing unique these days.

Re: TPA holds meeting to discuss GA at CYTZ
Thanks for the heads up on this, I plan to be there. I don't get in to YTZ that much anymore, but use the floatplane dock/ramp from time to time, so would like to see seaplane access (and GA in general) stay accessible at the island.
Re: TPA holds meeting to discuss GA at CYTZ
This meeting went off today. It became a bit of a "we pay plenty to be here, charge the transients" at one point.
I do not believe that based aircraft should be paying for every movement, and this was pointed out. I do not like the charge the transients more as that has no end. All planes land somewhere. If fees get out of wack no transients will come, and expenses go up for the remaining users. Transient fees will go up tit for tat all over the place... Fuel is the correct place to recover money with a "flow fee" . many us airfields use this method. Of course that depends on us all buying fuel all over the place (as we should).
I still beleive that they make no money collecting a 14.00 landing fee from transients (or based aircraft) by the time they bill it etc. It creates probably one job doing the collecting, period.
regards

Re: TPA holds meeting to discuss GA at CYTZ
I was at the meething.
TPA started by talking about the $150m investment in the last few years in improvments, big growth and revenues in the last few years, showing a graph of the noise complaints with the bigger majority on GA aircraft. Let me say thats its a polite way to say to GA we dont want you guys here, you dont pay your share, you cause the most of the noise complaints.
TPA knows that if they impose landing fees on local GA aircraft, a big majority will go away or disapeer and then they can had more slots for bigger revenues.
I down have a problem with a $15 landing fee, but eventually they become $25 or $50+.
Its irronic at the pity amount of revenue they would gain by charging landing fees to locals when they are just about to spend $60m on a pedestrian tunnel.
Its a big boys game that GA wont win.
