Just don't bend NIF or UAZ, they're old friends! Both nose heavy too as I recall, good in rough water.

While on the water, or ground, don't relax until it's either tied up at the dock, or parked.
The guy who will be training you is top notch... Enjoy!

I understand I will not be flying any of those blue and white ones, its a new startup company. Here is a picture of one of the two birds, it has been painted since red, white and blue.

I have a lot of fond memories of trips taken in the Goose. Enjoy your time flying them in B.C., you're in for a treat for the eyes. The west coast can be beautiful.

You'll have to excuse me... I assumed you were going to be working for Pasco. A new startup company with a couple of Goose's? Now I am intrigued... Look forward to hearing more! The one in your pic looks like it has the longer nose that the Turbo-Goose had...

Ugly Mother Goose! She was my favorite, sweetest hull of the lot. Anyone know if she got rebuilt, I saw what was left in YVR. RIP Sandy.

I'm envious. That's one airplane I'd really like to fly
Have fun with it!

Are these Grummans ex RCMP or where did they come from?

The one RCMP Goose I knew of (FMPG) is in the Museum in Ottawa. I have yet to see or hear any non-Pasco commercial Goose's around the West Coast lately...

What is the max wind speed you would normally operate the Goose in?

So where is this new start up company that is flying a Goose?

There are only 5 registered Goose in Canada. 4 are owned by Pasco the 5th is privately registered. I would suggest the idea of a Goose start up is a bit of a Red Herring.

Perhaps in Canada, but I personally know of one new start-up overseas...
Regards,
TPC
PS: The aircraft is painted just like the OP described it.....

OP said the start up was on the west coast not overseas, as such it's a red herring.
As for overseas you may be thinking on European Coastal Airlines, on the Adriatic sea. That's been in the dream stage for years.

As for overseas you may be thinking on European Coastal Airlines, on the Adriatic sea. That's been in the dream stage for years and to this date has not had a single paying customer, just lots of investors lossing their money.
Who are the investors that you speak of that have lost money? When I worked there I flew plenty of paying passengers. The airplane is parked right now but this is due more to political problems than anything else.

I also flew all five of these old birds.... at TPA from 1969 to 1972. I have a few comments for any new Goose drivers.
1. A Grummbler (G21A) will probably handle any amount of wind or turbulence or swells better than the driver.
2. You can dock a Goose any place you can dock a Beaver,
3. You can step taxi a Goose at 90 knots on the water without overheating the engines. I did 120 nautical miles in a snow storm once ...... it took 2 hours to drain the hull in Ocean Falls.
4. If you do step taxi for any time ...... drain the hull when you get onto the ramp.
5. The Goose will not maintain one engine ....even empty. If you lose an engine, plan to land ..... even in the trees.
6. You can land a Goose in any cross wind ...... you just can't stop without ground looping.
7. In cold weather ....things freeze up ...... flaps, landing gear, wing floats, engine controls ..... yaddi, yaddi, yaddi. Wait for warmer weather.
8. Landing and taking off down wind can be fatal.
9. If you have to turn in a hurry ..... add full power. If you don't ...... you will die.
10. When going down steep ramps ..... Murphy's Law will apply. If you are going to lose your brakes ....it will happen on a steep ramp on the North Coast at low tide.
11. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT POINT ..... check your gear when landing on the water ...... if the gear is down, and you are doing a water landing ..... you will probably die ..... the hull breaks off right about at your knees.
Other than that ..... it is a great airplane! Have fun!
Just my thoughts!
