Sunwing 767's
Maybe I'm the last to know, but I noticed 2 767's parked in yyz today with the sunwing logo on them. When did that happen?

Hey, I thought Canadian was merged into Air Canada years ago, and they never operated 757's either.

Re: Sunwing 767's
What's the ratio of Canadian Pilots to foreign Pilots at Sunwing these days?
Re: Sunwing 767's
according to a buddy of mine who works there, this or the next season coming up (not 100% sure) will be the one where they will have more foreign pilots then Canadian.
Re: Sunwing 767's
How are the flights to Europe doing? Are the flights full?

Re: Sunwing 767's
I heard the interview with a pax on CBC radio yesterday and, as is with almost any airline delay, the ground staff rarely know what is going on. Communication channels always appear to be the source of these problems. The interviewed passenger said she was given little information from the Swissport agents but she was able to track the delay via the Sunwing website. As the interview progressed she appeared to realize that despite the delay the company did what they could to keep pax comfortable and is providing them with compensation for the situation.
Also interviewed was an apologetic exec (not a PR person), which I thought was commendable. Apparently the aircraft part that was to arrive from Canada was lost en route and this was the reason for the delay. He also said that the company would be sending letters to passengers to seek recommendations about how they could improve the service during delays. Guests were also provided with the following compensation options: "Passengers were notified that they can either have a full cash refund for their flight, or a refund for the round-trip expense in travel vouchers, to be used in the future."
These long delays often and unfortunately do happen to airlines with high aircraft utilization and few extra aircraft just sitting around; isn't that most airlines these days? As usual, no airline is safe from the media and the agitated pax contacting the media.
What got me was the fact that the pax described it as a “hostage taking,” and a “nightmare,”. They were put up at a hotel for the delay. A negative Nelly could say to the folks in the article: Why is someone with an important surgery be flying hours before a scheduled "important surgery"? Why would the chaperones let kids sleep in a lobby instead of telling them to suck it up? An elderly person and a pregnant woman traveling. Point?, Did a Sunwing or Swissport agent actually say "We REFUSE to tell you anything"? Just where should the extra airplane come from to come and get you Rachel? Does AC say "Hey let's take that 777 of the YVR-SYD route and stick it on the CDG flight!"?
Maybe it is my many years as a flight attendant and a seasoned traveler but, while they are free to do so, I get tired of passengers that can't roll with the punches. These interviewees are likely the same ones that burst into tears when they run out of Creamo at home.
Sorry for the grumble. I just realized I ran out of Creamo.
