Very cool this will be fun to follow, is there a way to get that Spot page to show your route? Or does it show current position only?

He is in Muskoka, very likely holding for the weather. You will see his position every ten minutes when he gets going.

One downside with the SPOT device though; It is hooked on the Globalstar satellite network and the coverage will be degrading as he is progressing further north. Don' assume he's down when you don't see him moving for an hour or so.

You should see some action from tomorrow.

The Globalstars we had in the western NWT were brutal!

Hopefully this one won;t be as bad...

I am stuck in Muskoka indeed. Normally the plain would get a routine check up in the morning, and I'd have flown in the afternoon. Unfortunately, the plane had some technical problems, which will delay my departure untill tomorrow around noon. If the weather cooperates, I'll be trying to get into Churchill tomorrow, to make up for the lost time.

The spot should save all my position reports for 7 days, so you'd get some information about my routing. They use the globalstart network indeed, luckily my satellite phone is on the good network ;)

Good morning Digits

Seems like you have some kind of a "corridor" later today. If Waskaganish, James Bay is on your way, I have friends there who can be of some help.

My logged spot track is very strange. Anyway, the plan was to fly to churchill today. Didn't reach that at all. I'm in Nanika after a small diversion to CYMQ to put a few extra gallons in my main tanks. The headwinds, combined with the heavy airplane with a fuel consumption of 10GPH at 3000 ft screwed up the plans. Tomorrow to churchill, with at least a crosswind instead of full headwind ;)

Rudder Bug, sorry, didn't see your messages untill now.

Better to error on the side of caution, more fuel is better than less. Very cool being able to follow your trip!

Hum, 10 GPH is a lot. Are you running her full rich all the time?

I've lost your signal a few times, saw you approaching Geraldton and much later, in Nakina at 17:57

I have a friend in Nakina, JF. You might meet him tonight. It's a small place as you can see.

No, the normal fuel consumption was 8 GPH at 2400 rpm at 7000 ft above hot USA.

Now it was in Canada, at max weight, 10 GPH at 3000 ftp, 25000 rpm (headwinds) above colder Canada. I'll try some different power settings today. I always lean.

You've got great weather today. Please send us some pics. You are good to see the polar bears at the end of the day, lucky you!

Fly safe!

He is probably seeing the white bears by now, or just about. A bit of a head wind, no big deal. One thing for sure, he's having the time of his life!

Arrived in churchil, 2115Z. Lightning and heavy rain during landing on my first gravel rwy. Looking for the polar bears, saw a huge forest fire though!

Anyone an idea for sleeping arrangements in rankin inlet tomorrow ? I'd like an alternative for my tent :)

In Rankin Inlet- my wonderful home town- you can check out the Nanuq Lodge- 867-645-2650. From what I remember its about $150 per night.

The Siniktarvik Hotel will make you wish you were in a tent! The Co-op hotel isn't bad.

My sister says that the weather is nice and that the arctic char may still be running at the Diane River- see if Paige at the Nanuq can arrange for you to get down there.

Nunavut Airports has their head office in Rankin Inlet- and Shawn Maley is an awesome guy- go down and talk to them about your trip and they may have some pointers or updates on places further north- there are a few pilots who work there- including Shawn and they are a good resource. You will want to talk to them about parking as the ramp is a zoo most days of the week during peak times around lunch.

The char aren't running in Ottawa so I'm very jealous that you will be there. Don't spray paint anything on the big Inukshuk please. :)

Have fun!

After spending 3 hours refuelling my plane from barrels, I couldn't find the courage to put up my tent, so I'm spending 175 $ on a room, a move I'll regret when my next credit card statement arrives hehe.

Tomorrow resolute bay if the weather is willing to cooperate. Any suggestions for a place to stay over there ? Looks like it will be camping time if i see the prices over there...

Any Ken Borek air who was in rankin inlet around 17:00 on this board ? Someone was waving at me, have no idea who it was.
