4 engine bomber flying over CYTZ around 1200 today?

Anyone see or hear it? It was either a B-24 or a Lancaster.... I'd love to hear that it was a Lanc. The two look pretty similar though.

According to their schedule, the Lancaster is flying today, so that's probably the beast you saw.

They do both look similar, but sound totally different. There are no B-24s based in Canada, so that was the Lanc you saw today. If you want to see a B-24 in Canada, one is on the sked to come to the Hamilton Airshow in 2012 at YHM.

The -24 has one Rudder. I think you're thinking of the B-25 Mitchell.....

A B-24 and a B-17 did formation passes at the Niagara Falls Airshow a few years ago, what a site and sound that was! Seeing them both takeoff and land too, wow!

The Navy version of the B-24, called the PB4Y-2 Privateer had (has?) a single fin and rudder. When Hawkins&Powers out of Wyoming operated them ,they always passed through various western Canadian airports on the way to and from Alaska.

In almost 15 years of working at YHM, I always paused and felt a tickle in my tummy every time the Lanc was in action. What a magnificent aircraft!
