New helicopter job posting smells like a scam

Post by Youngback »

Did anyone vet this posting? Sounds like a Nigerian phone scam or at least similar to jobs that have been posted in the past where you send money to confirm your interview. Any job that says you can get paid while only having a PPL-H sounds fishy to me.

Same for the helicopter mechanic job posted right underneath it.

The offered job requires that you have a PPL-H, CPL-H and flight instructor license,
Ah, I dunno, youngback. The way I read the above is that it's a low-timer's job, and they want you to have the full heli licence, not just a 60?hour add-on to a fixed-wing CPL.

I could be wrong, though.

It is well written, English wise I mean, a lot of Nigerian scams use less than perfect Enlish

The one thing I fault is the VIP flying.

I work in that part of the world and any bloke flying a VIP is not a low timer,

The oil comaanies dont use low timers and the multi millionair locals don't use flight instructors to ferry them around

let us know your results of you follow this up

Perhaps I read it wrong but it seemed to indicate no turbine time was necessary and advised they would give you turbine time if it was necessary. Isnt the EC 120 a turbine machine?
Also, the hurray to apply is a bit weird.
I would check them out very carefully and not send a penny for anything. It does not seem right to me either.
Hope someone who applies will let us all know

I suspect that the job is legit and they are looking for a pilot to fill the other seat in order to do commercial ops in RAK (UAE). It would be a great opportunity for a low timer. Until recently, even fixed wing ops needed 2 crew for point A to B flights in the UAE and this (helo-copilot) could be a requirement of the owner or the operator.

Yeh , that must be it Duckie. Now explain to me how it works with the ad for an AME who wants to build time in the middle east....that is the ad right below the pilot ad.?

I am so interested to see how you will explain this as legitimate.

Well I could be wrong but most companies in the U.A.E. want quite a bit of experience and don't advertise their jobs with "hurry" and "pushing the limits" and "getting experience with a golden future." It also says they can get you to "hiring minimums." Looking for IWS FZE I found a website with only their name and address on it. No reference to what they do or who they are or even what IWS FZE stands for. The 7 Group seems to be a real estate company but the pictures on the website are all clipart and generic shots and most of their "properties" seem to be in the Caribbean. The only Paul Peters I found in Dubai comes up with another seemingly generic third party website under the name of "Rentacrib" selling baby safety supplies. It just sounds fishy. Of all the rip off jobs I've seen before, this scores on a number of the same points. Could be wrong but with what I know about the middle east, this screams scam.

And exactly what Trey Kule said. How is an AME looking to time build in an exciting exotic locale. The person who posted this seems to know little about how the aviation industry generally works.

Man, you guys are suspicious..

I'm not convinced it's a scam. There's no talk of any money up front, or billions waiting in Great Britain Pounds (GBP) belonging to dead uncles etc..

As always, feel free to not apply.

I would very much like to hear from anyone who applied for this job. BTW, in all the scams I have been offered not one has ever asked foramoney up front in the initail contacts

Here is my tip for the week. anyone have Skype? Before you apply contact this person
Contact:
Hadeel Mhanna
Business Center Manager
PO Box 35678, RAK, UAE
TEL: + 971 7 2068800

That is the building manager of the address they are using . Ask them who the tenants are in suite 1012.. Maybe google the company. No website but an email address, and no phone. Now how many companies do not have a phone. Only email addresses?

North Shore I have no intention of applying, but people seem to trust that AvCanada has vetted ads and I would hate to see any young person get sucked in... there is little doubt in my mind.

I had a friend look into this. I expect their email address will be unservicable very shortly.

smooth though..CV..skype interview. job offer....and then the little money issues...

I really did not notice a different smell here, but then I dont sniff my keyboard or screen.. Would be great to hear from anyone who applies for this job....after everything is said and done and they have their contract and tickets in hand....

No doubt in my mind this is a scam, but I would really would not be disappointed to be proven wrong. these types of people are smooth and professional, and work you down the road a bit before asking for visa fees, licensing fees etc. If they dont have an office phone that you can verify through information, that is a pretty good tip off.

Just got an e-mail last week telling me that due to the situation in this region, the contract will be delayed for at least a month..

I found it very polite and reassurant..

Again, will see!
