Transport Canada written exams

Post by Cat Driver »

I would like one of you computer literate guys ( guys as in unisex ) to put up a poll for this question.

Do you think Transport Canada written exams are structured to trick you into the wrong answer, rather than test your knowledge of the subject?

Yes or no.

Cat,

I have a University background and have been so frustrated by the 'tricks' TC uses in their exams to ensure that the majority of us do not 'ace' the exams...or as you put it, to ensure that a certain percentage of candidates fail the exams!

Looking back throughout my High School and University years, there was always a direct relationship between the effort I put in to studying for an exam and the result (or mark) that I got. Not so with my TC-exam experience!!

I will never forget how much effort it took trying to 'translate' or 'decipher' exactly what TC was trying to ask in their questions! This was never the case in University! My Profs. would never try and 'trick' their students into the wrong answers...something TC does so well!

Going through the Private, INRAT, Commercial, IATRA, and ATPL, there is no question to me that TC spends a phenomenal amount of time 'creatively' writing the questions to their exams.

If a student studies hard and knows the answers, the student should be rewarded with a great mark! The student should not have to waste time carefully reading and translating the TC question, only to be tricked into a wrong answer and in turn an average mark!

Yes Greenwich, it is so obvious they try and misslead you, however you must understand the culture this is coming from.

At the top of their hierarchy you will find politicians who have wormed their way up through the ranks into positions of power, dishonesty and underhanded methods to get ahead is a virtue in that ilk.

Those who work under such a system are either helpless to do anything about it or have been corrupted into believing that they have an exemption from morals and integrity because they have backing of their masters, no matter what they do.

I was going to peacefully retire from a lifetime of flying, until I ran afoul of the goons who make the decisions in their organazation, had I been guilty of a breach of regulations or law I would have accepted their crap.

However that was not the case, so I shall do unto them as they did unto me.....

That is why I hang in and try to expose the underbelly of the beast.

The name of the game is beat em at their own game, only do it legally and inside the rules.

The reason TC exam are the way they are is because TC staff have way to much time on their hands. I also resent the fact that you have to use a computer to write an exam now.
