Their website shows 2 available positions (320 CA and F/O). This also jumped out at me from their site:
Simulator Training
If you need a type rating we can organise and guide you to receive the best simulator package available at the best rates.

Yeah. I stopped reading it there. Not paying a dime for my training.

I think you'd probably need to.

Presumably it's a contract position where you are required to be qualified and current.

You can do an initial A320 type rating for about $7000. Once you're online that should be about two weeks of work to pay that off.

Is the pilot guaranteed the job though? I would consider doing this if I was remunerated very well for it. But only if I was guaranteed the job after I paid for my rating.

Just curious to see if anyone went through with the application process and heard back from them, and who the contract is for?

I asked for more info and this was the response:

"Thank you for contacting Longreach. At this stage we have had a lot of interest in the A320 job in Asia and are reviewing applications of interest. If you could please fill out the Longreach application form on our website that would be great. Thanks again, Kind Regards"

Interesting to note that "Longreach" is featured on Qantas 747s and their CEO has a strong desire to outsource pilots via offshore ventures in Asia...

Longreach, Australia is QANTAS's home town. It's a hub for the Outback. All their 747's have that painted on them.

They sent me a questionnaire with one of the questions asking if I was willing to pay for training. My replied "no". I haven't heard back and I don't think that I will.

"10. If you were offered employment conditional upon obtaining a type endorsement, would you consider paying for this yourself?"

Any chance you could share your current type and how many overseas contracts you've completed? There could be more to it than simply answering no to one question.

you missed the "up to". Until they actually provide information as to what that includes, I'd be very suspicious of those numbers.

Interesting that they say A380s in 2013. Does that mean some of QF's A380s are going to Jetstar Japan.

Interesting. A Japanese, shorthaul, domestic, low cost airline is going to start long haul, international, all-premium class service with A380s. Interested to see how that turns out. Perhaps they can get some 380 drivers from EK if they offer a good enough package.

Many years ago I met a couple guys on contract with Skymark as 767 captains. They were getting a little under US$10,000/month salary plus another ~$4000 in other allowances. That's a far cry from $24,000. So if anybody applies and actually gets a breakdown of the pay, I'd be curious to see it.

That works out to a total of about USD13,500/month including housing, per diem, and travel. A far cry from the USD24,000 that Longreach was advertising. I see Longreach has now removed the pay numbers and the mention of the A380.
