Looking for a little advice

Hey there,

I'm just looking for a little advice regarding an instructor rating.

I've recently completed my CPL and Float Rating and am looking to get my instructor rating. Just out of curiosity, what are the chances of flight schools hiring around this time of year and in say ~2-3 months for instructors? I've talked to a few people and they say it's pretty dead in the winter time, but a second opinion wouldn't hurt.

I haven't seen many jobs advertised for instructors in the recent weeks so that may speak for itself, however I was just looking for some input from those that are in the industry especially with the way the economy may end up going...

Thanks,
Typhoon

Winters do tend to be a lot slower for flight instruction, well certainly here in the Prairies. On the other hand if hiring continues to improve for pilots, schools may lose some of their instructors. Could go either way.

Certainly don't wait for jobs to come up on here though, and most CFIs will never hire over the phone. Dress smartly, bring a concise resume and introduce yourself in person.

If you can teach, fly and are pleasant, 100% chance of getting a gig, that is if you bust your arse looking around, meeting and greeting and getting resumes out!

Great, thanks for the info guys. As always, any other input is greatly appreciated :). Trying to decide between that and possibly continuing education :S

Why not do both??

I fly during the days and some evenings, however I am also taking medic classes (just something I always thought would be fun to do on the side).

I was considering that... but for financial reasons can only afford to do one of the two :(.
