I was expecting more fear mongering and over dramatization, but think the consultant provided some sound answers.

Not really that accurate. He made it sound like all the pilots in the north are "seasoned veterans". Obviously not true. Many are seasoned veterans, many are not. At least one of the deceased was very new on type. The others, I don't know and almost guaranteed...neither does he.

He was asked about why are there not more accidents in the winter when there are weather issues. An accurate answer would be that there are near as many weather issues in the summer as the winter and that there are many more flights in the winter. He actually didn't answer the question.

While he said that there is really no choice but to fly, he based it on distance instead of the most important reason for much of the north....no roads.

My guess...he's not an expert. But you are right that there is no "fear mongering and over dramatization".

Agreed. He even stated he was speaking of "companies" that were seasoned, and been in operation for years. He called the pilots "certainly capable" referring generally to the overall flight crew abilities in the north. Ive never heard of him or his consulting firm though? Decent insight.
