overview of the Vancouver GA scene?
Hi everyone,
I'm a PPL recently arrived in Vancouver from Australia, and was wondering who is offering what in the local area? I've been scouring a bunch of websites, but it's very hit-and-miss.
I'm really after a quick overview of things like:
- what options are there for hiring aerobatic aircraft (I was flying Citabrias, but wanting to step up to something between a Decathalon and an Extra)
- who has glass Cirrus SR22s or Diamonds or for hire?
- are there any good sites or newspapers for advertising aircraft shared ownership?
- are there any particularly recommended local aviation experiences, like "You've really got to do the flight from XX to YY, flying low through the..."
Are there any good websites for a summary of what's available at the local airports?
So far I've done a little flying out of Pitt Meadows to go through the motions of getting my license converted. It's a lovely little airport, but there doesn't seem to be anything particularly interesting for rent out there, very much a mecca for smaller Cessnas.
Any tips appreciated, thanks everyone.
AC.

If you want something different, interesting and challenging, get a float rating.

Thanks everyone, that's some great info, that Super Decathalon sounds like the ticket once I've got my license transferred.
As for the float rating, I'm already 2.5 hours into it
Does anyone have an angle on making use of that once you've got it though? Short of buying your own plane (or share in one) it doesn't seem you can rent any float ships for insurance reasons.

I believe Fort Langley Air Float may let you rent solo on their plane, at least that's what their website say.

Ft Langley will let you rent solo if they deem you competent. Bunch of good folk over there!!!
I'll second sealand air in ZBB. Go and see MP about aerobatics locally. He knows all the machines and is a riot to fly with. He's even occasionally on this board

If you're interested in aerobatics, you might want to attend a BC Aerobatic Club meeting. I believe the next one is November 7th, 7:00pm at the Delta Air Park. That'll put you in touch with pretty much everyone involved in the Vancouver area aerobatic scene.
