Post by Mitchel »

Just wondering if anyone knows anything about Air Lab in Goose Bay. What are the working conditions like? Shift? Lifestyle in Goose Bay?

That bad eh? I've worked for some shady northern operators in my day. What makes it so bad?

Iffy management...Worked for a company that had to take radios out of one of their twotters we redid so they wouldn't fly off with it without paying their $60000 refurb bill.

The company is great, been in business for 60+ years, has had its ups and down, its the industry, employees are paid well and respected. Low turnover rate in the employee ranks, Pilot turnover is moderate in the in F/O ranks as the Captain Seats are filled with lifelongers. Ignore the competiton who may post to put the company down.

Yes, I work there.

I have also worked there for a number of years in the 80's and 90's. Have no idea what it is like now, but back then it was the most disfunctional company I had ever come accross. One time, I was working on the beaver and had to remove the compass for a snag ( it was completly U/S). I left the aircraft apart and when for lunch knowing full well that the aircraft was AOG because of this. I came back 30 minutes later and it was GONE. The DOM and Maint Mgr had put the bad compass back in and allowed the machine to fly to Nain (did not sign the book)!!!!! I freaked when I got back. They told me it was fine just for that one trip. This was not the first or last time they pulled something like that.

Like I said, don't know what they are like now, but they were very bad a few years ago.

I'll come back with the REAL labrador pilot when i get a pic.. Loves to fly. He's named Tchad. I flew for Labrador Airways LTD. For maintenance under new management named air lab is it different? Do people at maintenance adopted another way of listening or went to see a doctor for earing problems?
