Sorry Nark, but I think this is a common problem within our community. We believe that because we can land a plane we can run a company or government.
This guy can fly, no questions there, and he was very lucky landing in the Hudson.
Does that qualify him for a position where he has to deal with a huge and bureaucratic administration, different areas, politics, congress, lobby interests, industry pressure and budget constrains?
Maybe. But we need to have access a more comprehensive resume and to go over his qualifications before supporting him for that position.
To administer the FAA takes someone who knows the industry, but is and acts as a capable CEO as well.
