Flying the Trench
In June a group of us are going to AK. I want to pickup Williston Lake west of Ft. St. John and then fly the trench up to Watson LK.
My question is can fuel be obtained at Ingenika or Ft. Ware or some of the other strips along this huge water-way? I see their are some private fishing lodges with their own airstrips as well. The Canadain supplement shows no services but I was told there is fuel available. Not cheap.
We are flying Scouts, Citabrias and Champs. Range is 4 hours and we will need to fuel twice enroute from the Fort to Watson. Also looks like winds could really diminish forward progress.
We will each carry 15 gallons in jugs but will still need a place to purchase fuel.

MurtsAir,
Thanks for the reply. I've flown the highway and the airways that take you quite a ways off the highway but wanted to do something different this time. The trench looks pretty interesting as long as I can get fuel. Maybe I'll have to carry 30 gallons but the other a/c won't have the capability.

Trip up the trench
Hi there onceacop, No public fuel sales north of Mackenzie, there are two commercial opperators on Williston Lake between Prince George and Fort Ware, as well as three or four helicopter outfits...they are all monitoring 126.7, and 123.2....lot's of traffic in the summer months for sutch a remote route so keep your eyes peeled!
