Any info on the reason for this round of pooling? I've got friends in the pool waiting and haven't heard anything?

I've been in the pool since April, and got the call for a sim eval two days ago, scheduled for this month. Sounds from HR like there's two groundschools confirmed for February, possibly more after that.

Does anyone know what the target hour experience requirements for Jazz is? They say that they prefer 1500 hours. But like Air Canada advertising the 1000TT, wouldn't they be looking at a candidate that would have approx. 3000TT (like AC)? I still applied, even though I might not meet the 3000TT nor the 1500TT.

Well I have over 9000 TT with A320 PIC and 737 PIC times. Thinking on coming back to Canada. I wonder do I have a chance?

That might be one of the stupidest, idiotic and pretentious comments I`ve ever heard this year. People like you give us pilots a bad rep.

Some of you get hooked so easily with some silly comments that is always makes my day
Sky_Conqueror do you really thing this "NewCPL" guy has those qualifications and if he does he's got no better networking capabilities then to come on avcanada thread and ask for directions? I mean really, think about it??

You're totally right Mig 29. With over 9000 TT and current A320 PIC in EU and 737 PIC under my belt, I'll never consider coming as F/O and be at the bottom of the food chain.
Respect Mig 29. You got my idea. Of course I was interviewed by AC in the past. Unfortunately PFO'd. After my career went only UP. some people with less time and for a fact I know that interview was much worse still got on with AC. Hiring is not as good as it looks up there.

If you really have that experience, then accept my apology.
But seriously, entry level F/O at Jazz or even AC....vs Etihad, Emirates, Cathy, Qatar, Flydubai, Korean etc??? .....unless your intent is to move back here to Canada, then all the best to you!
Here's my suggestion for you:

For sure it is predictable, because there are always new posters who jump right in without looking.
For instance the poster who said they have 9 thousand hours has been posting here since 2004, the poster who jumped all over him/her just joined the forum.
Never a dull moment.......there might be some dull posters though.

Rumour has it 50 foreign pilots will be hired at jazz for the TC program next year if all goes as planned. Have fun!

Kudos to NewCPL, He is only doing what every other expat Canadian does, i.e. checking Canadian forums for a sniff of a job at home.
I also do the same and have done so for quite a while, though I don't post to often, so here is one for you. 17000TT 737/A320 A330 all with pic. and I still have a look whats up at home. After all Sunwing did hire DEC's for a while so why not someone else.

Because Jazz has a union and upgrades are based on seniority...unless someome tells me I am wrong! A current Jazz pilot will confirm, but last I heard the most Junior Capt I believe was hired in about 2006, so pretty sure they would have enough qualified f/o's for upgrade should they be in a desperate need for capts.

I would like to also add that most chose (FO's) or (Cpt) what route they want to fit their life style with family or destinations.

We received an ALPA-related email from our MEC in regards to the foreign-pilot hiring topic, and they addressed this supposed rumour. They stated that the Jazz MEC was against the hiring of foreign pilots and that there are no plans for them to hire anyone.
I can't imagine why Jazz would need to hire foreign 757 pilots when they already have their own and a large supply of pilots who are interested in flying it.

Imagine if you could hire an already type rated CURRENT 757 CA for the duration of the 6 month TC contract and then at the end of the winter sun flying, cut them loose to go home. No need to retrain those pesky CRJ drivers for 757 currency and then retrain them back onto the CRJ at the end of the contract. Management could save BILLIONS. BILLIONS I SAY!

Seriously, while were at it, we may as well get Jazz to do Up front bonds.

Mig29. No problem buddy. I know the site. I was just checking the forum and could not resist on writhing something. I'm currently employed in EU and have a few offers under my belt.
Good luck to you.
