Re: 2012 Ground School
Lets see,
Initial Interview - April 1 2011
Sim - May 2 2011
Medical - Nov 2011
PFO - Jan 9 2012
I don't mind getting the PFO but 9 months to wait then a PFO. I chose not to apply for other jobs during the period waiting on Jazz. My own fault. Don't count your chickens till they hatch I guess.
I just a little upset that it took this long.
Good luck to everyone still in the pool.

You smoke a fatty this summer??!
I thought once you got the medical you pretty much had the job. Just a formality to piss into a cup at that point and wait for a course date.

Don't quote me on this but I thought for urine exams they also look at glucose/protein levels not just if you are under the influence of drugs ?~Hollywood~ wrote:You smoke a fatty this summer??!![]()

They just look at a few key indicators on the urine test to ensure it is legitimate fresh stuff.

I feel for you man....that is truthfully a looong wait after the initial interview to be PFO'd. Why? Hard to say, but nevertheless, take it as a positive learning experience and apply again! (and elsewhere too).
Good luck!
Re: 2012 Ground School
Hmm .. sounds like you might wanna reconsider your references .. I think after you complete the medical they do a reference check .. and since they put you through the ringer till now that's the only thing I can think of that would sink you at this point.
You can reapply .. I know of someone that had to do the process twice but got on.
G'luck!

Re: 2012 Ground School
There is also the background check too. But that comes after the medical and usually around the time of your reference check.

Re: 2012 Ground School
Well all i can think of is that at the time I only had 2200 hours and no ATPL. Did the background check, which I have had many for medevac jobs so can't see a problem there and the references they talked to all claimed to have given good references. I dunno I feel frustrated and defeated by this one.
Cheers,

Re: 2012 Ground School
don't be sad some received a "we have found it necessary to limit our selection to those candidates who best meet our requirements" letter even when meeting their requirements and before having an interview.......
Re: 2012 Ground School
Sorry it didn't work out for you this time. Many of us have been in that same situation. Ya it really sucks, the only thing you can do is keep applying and keep doing the best job you can at your current employer and things will come together. Try not feel to down about it, I know its tough but keep givin'er. Best of luck!200hr Wonder wrote:Well all i can think of is that at the time I only had 2200 hours and no ATPL. Re: 2012 Ground School
Just wondering if any new info is out there. I Heard a new course started Jan 30. Does anyone know how many are planned this year. What is the experience range for interviewing and hiring average.

Well I highly doubt RJ spots will be available as we have replaced 15 of them with 15 Q400s. So looks like Classic Dash spots and Q400, probably every base with the exception on YHZ. Good luck!
Re: 2012 Ground School
The latest Equipment Bid is out with the following vacancies posted:
YUL DH8: 18
YYZ RJ: 2
YYZ Q400: 26
YYC DH8: 3
YVR DH8: 11
There will probably be some changes to the above but this should give all who are potentially on an upcoming course of what is out there.

I've been invited to an interview as well.Localizer wrote:check.

Re: 2012 Ground School
A lot of foreign airlines require one of these checks along with certain volunteer organizations such as museums. It is done by a local police station to check for convictions of certain offences. Apparently, there are 4 levels of thoroughness for the Basic check. Have done one. Not a big deal for someone with a clean record, however, there is also the Vulnerable Sector Check which is the highest level basic check plus a search for sex offences that have been pardoned. You could do this one if you are going to be associated with minors.tiguan wrote:I've been invited to an interview as well.Localizer wrote:check.

Don't be surprised if your form comes back saying that there MAY be a match. In the event that the gender and date of birth of the applicant matches any sexual offence record in the system, he/she is required to submit fingerprints to the RCMP for a physical confirmation that you have no conviction.
Not sure which check is done for Jazz.
Re: 2012 Ground School
I do not work for AC ... BUT I used to work with a few guys who are there. I used one of them for a Ref. for a couple of job postings last December. Two guys told me the same things. What AC hired last year .... they want to hire X2 this year. So I guess that means two courses a month.
For guys like me I wish it were 4 classes a month. I don't want to work there. But it would make the rest of aviation in Canada a Chess Match.

Re: 2012 Ground School
Waiting game continues... interview was early Feb (success), sim check was mid Feb (success), got the call scheduling me for the drug screen and criminal record check early this past week. Completed both of those, so now I suppose after they get those results they start calling references?
Does anyone know how many days typically pass before your references start getting called? It's only been three days... but still, the suspense is killing me considering how fast everything progressed to this point!

Re: 2012 Ground School
My references got called before I did my medical actually. References were called on Jan. 6th, I did my medical on the 9th and got the offer on the 11th, so once the process begins, it seems to happen pretty quickly.

Before the medical, wow... My medical was booked for the morning right after the phone call so there wouldn't have been time. How much time passed between your post-sim phone call and Jan 6th?DHC-1 Jockey wrote:My references got called before I did my medical actually. CONGRATS by the way! Hope I'll be seeing you there.
