Applied for TC Civil Aviation Safety Inspectors position
I'm in a mood for a career change and applied for a TC Civil Aviation Safety Inspector (Airworthiness and Manufacturing) and was surprised to received a call from them 2 weeks later.
I was instruct that I will received another call from a gov. employee in order to pass a AME test. I'm getting a little bit nervous about that test. The job description was asking for a AME license or an acceptable combination of education, aviation experience and aviation related training. I don't have an AME license but do have the combination of experience and education.
Does anybody know what kind of an exam it will be? Is it the same exam as for getting the AME license?
Any other tips of what I should do to prepare my self for the exam?

misterhoney,
I'm a little surprised Transport Canada accepted your application without you having met likely the most important part of the statement of merit, an AME Licence. That being said you obviously have a reasonable combination of experience and education if you've been invited for the exam(s).
You will be given (2) regulatory exams, one on the applicable CARs as it pertains to Maintenance and Manufacturing and one on Safety Management Systems. Once those are complete you will be given an english exam, this exam seems to cause the most trouble for applicants, especially if you struggled with english/literature.
If you are successful and pass all three exams you will be invited for the formal interview. If you have any other questions PM me, Ill be happy to answer any other questions you may have...Good Luck!
Regards
