Time to 1000 Hours
My career took a bit longer to get going than I would have liked, but now that's it's off and running I'm curious whether many others have had similar difficulties over the last half-decade or so, or if I'm on my own and just made some poor decisions. How long did it take you to go from CPL signed off to 1000 hours?
Re: Time to 1000 Hours
I was 13 months from first PPC ride to 1000TT, although there was a gap of about 6 months between CPL and my first job.

Re: Time to 1000 Hours
CPL ride passed Dec 31, 1994. Presumably signed off a few days subsequent, as I had all of the time. 1000h Sept 16th, 1997. First really good scare: Sept 17th, 1997, courtesy of an asinine overload - had to hold on to the throttle, my hand was shaking so badly.
The smartass in me says it took 1000hrs to get to 1000 hours!

Re: Time to 1000 Hours
Whatever it takes to get 1000 hours is what it takes. I was disappointed when I hit 1000 hours. The insurance companies told me I was going to be a great, wise pilot by then, but I still saw myself as the same screw up that I was at 999.3 hours.

Re: Time to 1000 Hours
PPL 1984
CPL 1994
1st job 206 on floats (full season around 300 hrs), 2nd job co-pilot C414...flying air ambulance can be a slowwww way to fill the logbook. Some months maybe 20 hours others 80.
I had my 1000 hours by early 1996 as I already had 400 or so from my PPL.
Fly safe all.

23 months for CPL to 1000TT
Don't put a timeline on your career. There will always be people that seem to skip right along and others that take a bit longer. Work hard, enjoy where you are. Before you know it you'll be programming the plane to fly for you and day dreaming about the days you were hand flying through the mountains at barber pole. Everyone gets where they're going eventually.
