No. THe company you're inquiring about went to shit a long time before you probably ever thought about flying. If you're smart, you'll see Cpt X is trying to give you some advice there. Forum working nicely.

Ok I didn't see it as advice.
I'm not looking at making a career there, but their guys are getting scooped up pretty quick. So short term pain for long term gain. Just want to know interview process

Sounds like you sit in an office with a guy and talk about flying his planes, at some point he tells you he likes to look after his guys and pays 500.

To The Guys/Girls Who Made The Negative Comments Above.

I was in aviation and left aviation for some time. I just went and did my Multi IFR and got my
ATPL back... I have about 2550 TT, 1588 Turbine, 120 Hours Jet Time. lots of multi PIC, and night time ec.

I am applying for jobs and really do appreciate comments like the ones you made. It keeps me from applying to the wrong companies. So your comments are heard and listened to .... maybe not always by the intended recipient. But they are seen and appreciated. THANK YOU.

Please keep us informed. The industry in many ways has changed. And some things have not. So help those that need it learn the lay of the land. I saw a company posting last week for C172 and Navajo's for like $2,000 a month. And they probably got like 200 resumes .... because they can.

Well I was mostly just smarting off. Since they're in Calgary though they have no shortage of guys willing to come "Bust their humps for less!"

Was the ad only up for a few minutes or did you miss a digit or two off the number of resumes?

This is whats wrong with aviation, comments like this. How bout I sell you 1000 hrs hours and sodomize you for 2000 a month. That is what going to happen if you go there. Its not about the "Quick" rise to the big leagues or where ever else you decide to end up. If people stopped applying at CMA or other low paying scabby operators. They would A. have to shut down, or B. pay more. But pilots are a spineless bunch and won't so, go on and work there.... enjoy the free rent from mom and dad while you can.

I also can't seem to understand why Pilot unions aren't helping their young. Example why is AC's new hires screwed royally in pay while the guys at the top want to get more and claw back from the new ones? Maybe I have it wrong but it sure looks that way

I've had a few friends interview there and the interview itself will likely be with an HR person and the CP. It's a mix of personality and tech questions. The personality stuff is all typical airline questions (tell me about a time when...) and the tech stuff can be a bit hard. I had a few friends do the pilot career centre prep and apparently it helped out quite a bit. What I've heard was don't try to BS your way through it, if you don't know an answer just tell them you don't know.

Hope this helps. Have they called for interviews yet?

I know four people that used to work for CMA. Three of them are at AC now and one at Jazz. They all agree that the company had changed quite a bit from the time they started to when they moved on. None of them seemed to be happy working there. If you're in the Calgary area there are much better companies you could be working for. (I'm not sure how much flying CMA does out of Calgary since Georgian took over). If you're in BC you might want to try Pacific Coastal, the other few entry level companies in BC I can think of all pay shitty:

Carson-$21000/yr and the bond is more than 20K
Island Express Air-work for free to pay off your PPC
Orca-$12/hour
KD Air-$2000 per month to start

It's a little of bad cop good cop routine with 2 somtimes 3 Interviewers. Make sure you brush up on your IFR, lots of those questions. Also, make sure you know everything about the company. It seems like they will make questions harder and harder untill you get one wrong to see how you act, so dont worry if you don't know a question.

Read the book checklist for success. The CMA interview is straight out of there. Right down to the 3 personality types they give in the examples on page 14 and 15.
