Advertising on aircraft?

Post by caribotter »

Any thoughts on selling advertising space on airplanes? What do you think about flying a plane that looked like something out of nascar....

Doesn't Ryanair already do this? I know a number of airlines advertised the soccer world cup on their aircraft.

Does getting paid to have someone's sticker on your airplane constitute commercial flight?

I knew someone years ago who had a homebuilt that his company paid to have painted. He suggested to the company that he could paint it in company colours and with company markings, and then as he flew it to airshows around BC and WA it would get shown off. I think, but I don't know, that he was only a PPL. It was a cell company if I recall.

No Doz on the AC fleet. I love it. :) Maybe Visine would be good too... They seem to have a lot of "vision problems".

I once asked Arlo Speer about the legality of selling ad space on an Amateur aircraft. His answer was that if you wished to paint "Eat at Joe's" on your plane and Joe was willing to pay but did not require any level of performance, this was not a contravention of the regs. However if Joe wanted a guarantee that the plane would fly over the beach every weekend, this would be commercial work and would contravene the regs.
