With little time, it's hard to get hired without being there in person. Most companies in Maun require you to go there. It can be a lot of fun, as a pilot you need 25 hours over the delta to convert your license so most companies just let you jump on flights whenever there is an open seat. With German as a language Namibia might be a good bet,
Cheers

Your best bets are Botswana, Namibia and Tanzania. I lived and worked in Tanzania but know countless pilots who have worked in the other two spots. They all hire and give visas under the same basic guidelines.
With 250 hours total time, you WILL NOT get a job in either of these three countries without actually flying there and knocking on doors, hanging out at the airport and socializing with the guys and girls in country. However, if you do knock on doors, etc., in due time you will likely get a job. The company will pay for your visa and most have accommodations of some sort. The pay isn't great but you will save more money due to cost of living being so low.
Most companies require a commitment of a year and often two. Two years is the length of the working visa. The busy season is May through October... It rains a lot the rest of the year. You are more likely to find employment in late winter but that doesn't mean you can't find it in the Fall or anytime for that matter.
You need to decide where you would like to go. My suggestion is Arusha in Tanzania. You may have to start in Dar though. Coastal Aviation is your best bet. Good luck.

Hey JAC, where you working now? Heard a lot of guys have left Coastal recently. That might be the place to start for sure. They might still be sticking on their 1000hr minimums though due to insurance requirements.

What about the french side of Africa, we never heard anything about employment in those countries?
I speak french and I guess there's less guys on this side knocking doors. Someone tell me that DRC is the best bet (if you find a safe operator) but I got nothing more.
I'll be looking soon for my first job in Canada but Africa is my plan B if I can't find a position here.

There are jobs in West Africa but a lot less for new CPL's. The reason the other countries I mentioned have so many jobs is due to tourism... Game viewing/hunting mainly. Lots of 206's and 208's and they don't care which language you speak as long as you can pass their proficiency test. Good luck.
