Looking up Lat's and Long's from a Notam

Post by Captain X »

I am trying to find an easy way (not using a paper map) to look up lat an longs included in Notams. Google maps work but you have to convert (example 5310N11523W TO 5304N11522W TO 5303N11506W TO 5311N11506W) into a degree decimal format... its pain in the butt. There must be some easier way to do it? Anyone know a good way to accomplish this?

Try Google Earth, it can be changed to the different formats.

Hey Captain X,

I came across this post while doing some related searches on notams. Just wanted to let you know that I launched a website a few weeks ago that might make your life easier when it comes to notams. It's called Zulu for Pilots and it's an interactive map that shows all notams on a map. One of the nice things it does is it takes obstructions (e.g. towers) and plots those on the map.

I really feel your pain when it comes to notams and I'm sure others will probably agree. I hope this website will change all of that.
