Good morning,
Two of us are interested in doing float ratings in the Ottawa area. Thus far, the only thing available seems to be Lake Country Airways at Constance Bay through Ottawa Flying Club. I'm not interested in giving OFC any of my business but I would deal directly with Lake Country Airways. Do any AvCanadians know of other outfits in the Ottawa area offering float training?
Thanks

Re: Ottawa Float Rating
I can tell you everything you need to know as I did it with them, albeit I took the time to go to Orilla, talk with the CFI, owner.
It is as you've mentioned, with the CFI of OFC and an instructor who built his time with Lake Country and does flying with OFC during the time not flying land. It is a Lake Country, 172, based out of constance lake within the ottawa practice area. First lesson is to get used to the plane and about the only time you spend above 1-2,000'. The lessons last about 1.5-1.8, but depends on the day and such. To summarize you'll go to White Lake, the Gatineau hills for some different approaches in the hills, small tight lakes and so forth. Beaching, single float T/O, sailing etc etc. At the end you go solo by yourself.
Anything you need let me know.
