Police are investigating after they say a float plane in Yellowknife was hit with a bullet in mid-air on Sunday afternoon.

The plane was damaged during a flight over the southeast side of Latham Island in the Old Town area sometime between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. MT.

The RCMP said the pilot heard the impact during the flight, and inspected the plane after landing.

There was damage to one of the propellers and the engine bonnet. Police say the damage was minor, but could have been life-threatening.

The RCMP are investigating, and are asking anyone with information to contact them.
Holy crap - I hope they find the idiot that did this and lock him away for a long time.

If anyone on here flies CF-GYP, take a look at the left wing just outboard of the wing strut. If the same wing is still on the airplane as there was 50 years ago, there's a little square patch on the top and bottom. Some pilot was regularly doing the horizontal bop with a certain lady and her old man got righteously incensed and took a pot shot at him with his war surplus 303 as he flew over one day. :D

in the early 80 a guy in Grand Forks BC who owned the house just east of airport was taking pot shots with his shot gun at the gliders because the shadow scared his dogs.

Whats a BONNET?
I kind of chuckled when I saw that. It's a British term for a car hood. I suppose in this instance they are referring to the engine cowling.

If that's not weird, the British call the car trunk the "boot".
