On a serious note, you shouldn't have to crawl around on your belly trying to scratch together enough cash each week to survive. The only reason companies get away with paying "nickel 'n dime" is because people will take it, sacrifice any sort of lifestyle and say it's in the name of progression. There are other options, my favorite being to head north. You'll meet some great people, learn some stuff you didn't know existed (like what washroom door handles and damp hands do at -40...), and get paid a wage on which you can survive. If this seems too farfetched, at the very least still be sending out resumes, be talking with local operators and ready to jump at a moment’s notice.
