TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire -08/30/12)- Editors Note: There are two photos associated with this press release.

Sunwing understands the importance of offering Canadians across the country an opportunity to head south to sun destinations at an affordable cost, with the convenience of being able to fly right from "their doorstep". For this reason, Sunwing currently operates out of 33 Canadian gateways, including Grande Prairie, AB, with several vacation options offered.

New for the 2012/2013 season, Sunwing will be offering flights and vacation packages from Grande Prairie to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. "This is welcome news to our airport and the region we serve," indicated Brian Grant, CEO of Grande Prairie Airport. "Our efforts to broaden service options from our airport, which includes sectors in a number of markets, is paying off with this latest announcement."

"We're pleased to now offer flights from Grande Prairie," said Andrew Dawson, President of Tour Operations at Sunwing. "Our customers have expressed their appreciation for the convenience of travelling from their local airport, as well as the excellent service they experience on our Sunwing Airlines flights, and we're very proud to be able to meet the vacation needs of so many Canadians."

All Sunwing vacations from Grande Prairie include flights aboard the "high frills" Sunwing Airlines, where passengers are treated to the award winning Champagne Service, which includes a bon-voyage glass of champagne, hot towel service, a choice of hot meals at lunch and dinner served with choice of wine, and complimentary in-flight entertainment, including first run movies. For just $40 more per flight segment, travellers can upgrade to Sunwing's Elite Plus service, which features extra leg room seats, advance seat selection, separate check-in at a majority of airports, advance boarding, and 30 kg baggage allowance.

I believe these flights actually go through Ft Mcmurray, so it's really not any better than going through Edmonton or Calgary to a vacation destination, is it:?:

The flights may actually have to stop in YEG or YYC on the way north. Anyone know if YQU or YMM can handle international flights? If they can't, plane will stop in YEG or YYC for customs clearance. I believe this is what Sunwing does with the service to YBG, stop in YQB for customs.

Hopefully it won't be a bus ride for YMM or YQU after the stop in YEG!!

Sunwing spreads its wings across Alberta
As travellers’ thoughts turn to planning their winter vacations, Sunwing is making it easier than ever for residents of Alberta to head south, by adding Fort McMurray and Grande Prairie to the list of the departure airports offered by Sunwing Airlines. Area residents will be offered weekly Wednesday flights to the beautiful beaches of Puerto Vallarta and Riviera Nayarit in Mexico with departures starting December 19, 2012 to March 20, 2013.
“Sunwing is already running very successful year round programs from Calgary and Edmonton and the response from travellers and travel agents in Alberta has been extremely positive ”, said Daryl McWilliams, vice president of sales and marketing. “Sunwing is famous for its ‘bringing our plane to your door’ program, serving communities across Canada with direct air service to the sun, and we’re proud to have added Grande Prairie and Fort McMurray as our 32nd and 33rd gateways to the sun”.
All Sunwing vacation packages include flights aboard the “high frills” Sunwing Airlines, where passengers are treated to the award winning Champagne Service, which includes hot towel service, a choice of hot meals at lunch and dinner served with choice of wine, and complimentary in-flight entertainment, including first run movies. For just $40 more per flight segment, travellers can upgrade to Sunwing’s Elite Plus service, which features advance seat selection, separate check-in at a majority of airports, advance boarding, 30 kg baggage allowance, and extra legroom seats.
