Perimeter Expanding
With their stated intention to buy basicly any Metros they can get their hands on, what kind of an increase in flight crew staffing do you forsee at Perimeter Airlines?
How many crews would the airline employ per aircraft?
Will crews continue to be based in Winnipeg or will there be a growing emphasis on Thompson based crews with the recent takeover of Skyward's facilities there?
Also, any insight re Perimeter flight crew salaries and benifits would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Good on the Perimeter guys and gals...Exchange Industrial Income Fund reports results for the period ended March 31, 2005
WINNIPEG, May 30 /CNW/ - Exchange Industrial Income Fund (TSXV: EIF.UN)
today reported its financial results for the period ended March 31, 2005.
Exchange Industrial Income Fund (EIIF or the Fund) was created and acquired
Perimeter Aviation Ltd. ("Perimeter") as of May 6, 2004.
The results reflect the first quarter period from January 1 to March 31,
2005. Sales for the period were $8.8 million dollars. Earnings after tax were
$682,820 or $.54 per unit basic and $.41 fully diluted. Distributable cash was
$918,178 or $.73 per unit basic, and $.57 per unit fully diluted. During this
period Distributions totaled $339,171 or $.27 per unit. Detailed results are
available on Sedar.
"We are very pleased with the first quarter results" stated Mike Pyle,
the President of EIIF. "They reflect a dramatic increase in demand for
Perimeter's services, largely as a result of the closure of a significant
competitor, Skyward Aviation. The increased passenger demands have put
pressure on Perimeter's capacity, but as a result of exceptional effort of
Perimeter's staff, we have been able to meet the challenge."
"We have acquired an additional Metro II aircraft in March of 2005, as
well as our first Metro III in April. We are looking at the addition of
additional aircraft in the second and third quarters of the year" stated
Duncan Jessiman the CEO of EIIF. "We need to take advantage of the
opportunities that have presented themselves. With the help of our partners at
TCIG, we have consulted with our First Nations Customers and are working hard
to meet their requirements."
EIIF is completing its due diligence on the recently announced
acquisition of Keewatin Airlines. That transaction is expected to close in
June.
Management of EIIF continues to look at additional investment
opportunities both within the airline industry and in other sectors.
Additional information relating to the Fund, including all public
filings, is available on SEDAR (http://www.sedar.com).

Re: Perimeter Expanding
We have been hiring several FOs per month. 3 more in June brings the total to 8 or 9 for the last 2 months. The Thompson base is crewed for now, but if more airplanes are positioned up there, more crews will go with them. Crewing levels seem to be about 3 per plane in YWG, 2 per plane in YTH.Nordstar wrote:With their stated intention to buy basicly any Metros they can get their hands on, what kind of an increase in flight crew staffing do you forsee at Perimeter Airlines?

Starting FO salary is low to mid twenties going to low 30s for FOs. Captains make anywhere from $45K to $90K+ depending on how much you want to work and if you fly sked or medevac. Benefits are standard - life, PTD, 100% prescription and dental, vision, etc.
More metros have been purchased this month, and the Dash-8-100 is coming in June.
"The South will boogie again."

Thanks for the info Stu!Disco Stu wrote:the Dash-8-100 is coming in June.
Do you know if the Dash is being wet leased? All of the crew from elsewhere? What kind of use are they planning for the DSH? Cargo?

Who is the chief pilot at perimeter these days? the website says Mark Killen but I thought it was somebody else. And does perimeter only hire lowtimers for the right seat or will they consider someone with more time ie: a guy from the bush with no IFR or two crew ops. Thanks.
I did my initial IFR at Perimeter back when B.W.was still actively flying, (early 70's) It appeared to me that the reason for the Metro 11's as opposed to the more superior Metro111/23 is because of the short gravel runways in most Northern Manitoba communities. Does anyone know if the Govt. of Manitoba has any plans to put safety over costs and lengthen some pretty marginal runways? I think that would help air carriers more than anything else.
The average pilot, despite the somewhat swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy and caring.
These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Any truth to the rumour that Perimeter was at flight safety in YYZ looking for D8 sim time???
Maybe they will need pilot's if they move guys onto the D8 if it comes.
I wouldn't hold my breath. Maybe they' ll pull a Jetsgo and charge a 30G bond for a D8 PPC.
I believe it when I hear it going into Island Lake. Unless of course you can convert the D8 to garrrets

I do know for a fact that they just hired a few people (10 or so) to fly up in Thompson. i think they will be generally flying the Beech 99 on sch'd. I also know that they are trying to capture the north from the old skyward runs before anyone else puts thier hand in the cookie jar.
One is being painted green and white right now in Victoria, I think the Ident is FRQI (Air North)and the other one is in YQT right now getting some work done. It is a Bearskin machine the ident has a Q in it as well, maybe FQC. Ok so they just started going to South Indian and York Landing in February, I guess 2 of 15 or so destinations are new. I stand corrected. The point was that Perimeter is not new to Manitoba and market share is something they are trying to keep instead of attain.

I'm sure the idents I quoted are for a home built or something so note the "I think" part of my post before the idents as you quote the TC web site to prove me wrong
