Prop Bolts

Post by DonutHole »

Hey AvCanada Populace.

I have looked at a few props and I have noticed something and I am wondering: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE.

Looking at the bolts, I notice that some prop bolts have only one hole while other prop bolts have a hollow centre and six holes.

What is the purpose of having six holes and a hollow centre?

If any AME could chime in on this it would be great :)

Without seeing the bolts in question I am going to say they are both for lockwiring just different styles.

Simple. The six holes allows you to choose the most optimum one for threading the lockwire. The hole in the middle allows you to pass two strands of wire through in a criss cross pattern, which makes for a stronger safety (and no chance for an outside wire to slip off the side of the bolt head).
