Re: Such tragedies
The Willard, MO accident claimed 5 lives (3 children), nearly an entire family. Terribly tragic. Interesting it was yet another Cirrus SR22. A little discerning when there were 5 people aboard and seating for 4.

Re: Such tragedies
I would wager that none of these aircraft will
be found to have mechanical problems.
What does that say about the pilot's stick and rudder
skills?

My feelings also.

Unless, of course, it was a 2012 model.P-40 wrote: A little discerning when there were 5 people aboard and seating for 4.
Re: Such tragedies
The FAA Preliminary Accident Notice indicates that the aircraft registration was N436KS, which is listed as having been manufacturered in 2002.

Remember that in the eyes of TC anyone under the age of 2 is considered an infant and only needs to be held in the arms of an adult, which seems pretty primitive when we consider the trouble we go through to transport them in cars.P-40 wrote:The Willard, MO accident claimed 5 lives (3 children), nearly an entire family. Apparently some models have 3 seatbelts in the back and are designed for 5 people
Re: Such tragedies
The "5th" seat was made available by Cirrus in 2012 model SR22's. The aircraft that crashed was built in 2002, it has 4 seats and 4 belts.Ivan42 wrote:P-40 wrote:The Willard, MO accident claimed 5 lives (3 children), nearly an entire family. Terribly tragic. Re: Such tragedies
Actually, the idea behind that is if they regulated child restraints for aircraft (which would require the purchase of another seat on commercial flights), that more people would drive and more infants would be killed due to the higher rate of automobile accidents.Shiny Side Up wrote: Remember that in the eyes of TC anyone under the age of 2 is considered an infant and only needs to be held in the arms of an adult, which seems pretty primitive when we consider the trouble we go through to transport them in cars.
