Flight Crew Movie
Forgive me if I am poting this in the wrong place- I came across the website of this film and wated to pass the info along. It's a flight crew film called "The Aviary" it was apparently produced and written by a US based flight attendant. The trailer looks good and my dad (a pilot) says it looks like at least some of it was shot on real commercial planes.
Anyway, worth checking out - you can read about the flight attendant who made it (a UAL FA?) and watch the trailer at:
http://www.theaviarymovie.com
Anyone seen/heard of it?

Anyone who wants can get it from me. 1/2 price!
PM Me.
I got my copy on Sat. and watched it immediatly. I loved it. I'm surprised to hear the "bit ass" comment because it was actually better than I thought (which barely ever happens to me with movies). I thought the characters were great, the acting was awesome and the story was original and really strong. I'll admit, if you are only into action movies or "hollywood" movies "The Aviary" might be harder to apprecuate. However, if you like "indie" movies like "Lost in Translation" or films like "Closer" and you are interested or know people in the aviation world you'll probably love it like me.
Oh- and my dad (a pilot) watched it with me and he loved it too. In fact, he told me it was the best "airline world" film he's seen to date. He's passing it on to his pilot/FA friends.
I loved lost in translation.
Things were too far fetched. Pilots don't sit around in uniform jackets and caps drinking in hotel bars or worse at a private party. Most Flight attendants I know see the cockpit door as a lock to the cage we live in. I have met very few who will sleep with a pilot just cause he is a Captain...
There were other things.
I am glad you liked it. If you want a copy for someone else let me know. I'll sell mine.

I guess we just have to agree to disagree on this one. I was relieved that the dirctor put the actors in identifying uniforms instead of making us try to figure out who is/isn't flight crew in every situation. I felt that was a stylistic choice and a wise one. Not to mention, my mom is an FA and she said that crew lounges (especially overseas) often have uniformed FA's and pilots in lounges and bars (which are crew only). As far as the locked door policy - I think it's a case of "sometimes" that's how my parents met - on layover (my dad is a pilot). So, I guess there is always going to be differing opinions on things.
I will prbably want to buy your copy, actually, I'll PM you about it though.

There was a movie in production about pilots in the north. It was titled "The Lurker". But I heard some bad news about it and they hade to go back to the drawing board. Poor souls. Can't wait to see it at the Toronto Film Festival. Hope the guys keep working on it.
If riding in a plane is FLYING. Then Riding in a boat is SWIMMING!
I am an overseas B747 pilot. I assure you I would be fired for ever being seen having a drink in uniform, and god only knows why I would be wearing my hat.Bob Martin wrote:. The Aviary
Let's agree to let people decide about the film for themselves. There are a lot of great reviews on the site (many from flight crew) so obviously some people are enjoying the film. I think it was a great dicussion though. I love talking about movies LOL

For anyone who was "on the fence" about ordering this movie - wanted to pass on the info that the movie is heavily discounted on the website at the moment: http://theaviarymovie.com/mainpage.htm
It isn't mentioned anywhere else on the site so it may be a mistake or something but the shipping to Canada has been reduced too - just thought I'd pass that on

Sadly, the cast and crew of Lurker are now scattered across the continent, if not the world, and the company conditions that led to its creation aren't being replicated...I hope that the guys manage to get together and finish the film soon..
Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

One could always go work at keystone to get better material for the group, his contribution would be appreciated, sacrifice for the greater good of hollywood.North Shore wrote:Sadly, the cast and crew of Lurker are now scattered across the continent, if not the world, and the company conditions that led to its creation aren't being replicated...I hope that the guys manage to get together and finish the film soon..
