Okanagan Delta
Hi all. Me and my wife would like to move to the delta. She can get a job no problem but I need to find something flying. Anyone out there to guide me into the direction I need to go in the Delta. Thanks

Re: Oganagan Delta
Where are you moving? The Okanagan? Delta (the Lower Mainland suburb?). The Fraser River Delta which would include Richmond and Sea Island and Queensborough? The Okavango Delta in Africa?

Re: Oganagan Delta
Okay, there is no such thing as the Okanagan Delta. It is just the Okanagan Valley or the Okanagan.
Not too much to choose from flying wise out there--one of the reasons why I left. It's mostly rotary wing, with Canadian Helicopters having a big base in Penticton, Alpine having one in West Kelowna, the Northern Air Support at the Kelowna Airport, with smatterings of small operators up and down the valley.
The biggest fixed wing employer is Kelowna Flightcraft, but Kelowna is a senior base. Most pilots work out of Hamilton or Vancouver and often start in smaller bases in the prairies like Saskatoon or Winnipeg. Carson Air operates everything from an FTU to Medevac to small cargo to private charter out of Kelowna, but they pay poorly.
Other than that, I've known a few guys who have commuted from the Okanagan for Kenn Borek and many fly for West Jet while living full or part time in the area.
