Elt 1 year

Post by PMFF »

I'm having a debate with someone about when an ELT is due for re-certification... ultimately, there are 2 questions that we can't seem to get a clear answer on.

Basically, say you had the 1 year ELT re-cert Jan 4 2012. Is the next one due Jan 4 2013 or Feb 1 2013.

The obvious guide is here:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r ... c-2460.htm

however the argument comes from a medical (subsection 7)
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/r ... htm#404_01

The 625 section doesn't have have a (subsection 7 or the like)

The second question is; does the rule change for an air operator with an MCM and MSA (Assuming no specific text is present). In most MSA's I've seen, you can generally extend the due date by 30 days.

On a side note... if you do go to the 13th month on an ELT, does that apply to an Annual for a private aircraft as well?

Thanks in advance!

See CAR 625.86:

As applicable to the type of aircraft, at intervals not to expire later than the last day of the 12th month,
