In no expert on AME courses but the E/B2 is if you intend to work on avionics (avionics tech) and the "M" course is for the overall maintenance of an aircraft (AME). I also believe there is an "S" endorsement that allows you to sign off structural repairs. That`s my brief understanding. Im sure others have more indepth understanding of the different endorsements and what they allow you to do.

Good luck and welcome to the board.

PS... There is a maintenance forum here on AvCanada and thats where you`ll likely find your answer. It wouldnt hurt to ask a mod to move it over to that forum.

Better yet to ask yourself what is it you would like to do. Do you like spark chasing and electrical things or do you like to fix and repair things as it relates to being a mechanic. Do you have a genuine passion to work around aircraft and want to be a part of this industry or are you looking for a career and aircraft maintenance sounds like something fun to try?

In which of the two fields do you see your self ? Are you more of a hands-on, mechanically oriented type, that doesn't mind getting dirty or do you see your self doing radio bench work, chasing wiring bundles and looking for problems from the electrical/electronic side of things ???

There are good avionics guys out there that make a handsome living off their chosen profession just like there are great mechanics that are equally successful. Generally speaking, good avionics engrs. are getting harder and harder to find. They usually have a better choice of jobs - but it is not a rule.

If you're thinking of going into aircraft maintenance as an alternative to becoming say a locksmith, meat cutter or a rodeo clown than I would suggest researching your choice a lot more thoroughly. Read some of the subjects on this site, plenty of good info out there for the future AME wannabes. Better know what you're getting into and don't believe everything the school tells you - they run a business after all.

Cheers

And don't believe everyone who posts on the internet as well. People who are happy with their jobs and lifestyle rarely go online to tell the world. They have lives and better things to do with their time.

...and those who do are categorized as misinformed and/or liars ...and retards if you're talking to Pat Richard apparently.

Choose what makes you happy and not necessarily what you think you can get a job in or how much you can make. Of course these weigh in but attitude is everything and perseverence will get you to where you want to go.
