Narks rules to live by:
Don't go bungy jumping in Mexico.
Don't go hot air ballooning in Egypt.

Fire in any airborne vessel must be incredibly scary.

Truly horrible!

I've read somewhere that the "pilot" and only passenger who escaped did so by jumping while the already burning nacelle was around 10 meters high.
I guess the 19 others didn't pick up the idea or were not quick enough to do the jump.
I would be curious to know this particular survivor's background. What made him decide to do so and not the others ?
Usually, when we play "tourist" we tend to leave our situation awareness and brain behind.

He did not...

After the (only) two jumped, this new lack of weight lurched the balloon upward to its demise.
The one we can see on the video.

I don't know if I could have jumped ten meters. I've never been able to go off the fourth tower at the olympic pool and that's into water.

21 people in one basket? That sounds intimate.

Don't worry beef, I've seen plenty of people who've seriously busted their asses jumping off the tower at the Talismen Centre.

Survivor's guilt is a terrible burden.

That story said nine of them jumped. Can't imagine how awful it was in that craft. I wonder if the pilot jumped instead of landing?

That's the very tower I have been on Frosty. I eventually went off the third tier possibly. I know I managed the second a few times. A couple of my buddies went off the top one without injury. I've always taken at least one flight of stairs back down.

I watched a few people dive head first off the top also. Fortunately I have never seen anyone get hurt there.

I notice most city pools don't even have a diving board anymore here. A lifeguard told me two still have a high board.

Anyway, 7 of the nine that jumped from the balloon basket still died.
