Help from any WestJet Pilots

Post by BRM22 »

Hello everyone,
Me and my partner are working on our thesis at Seneca College on electronic flight bags and their implementation into regional airlines. It would be a great help to us if any current pilots at WestJet could do our quick 5 minute survey. There are 2 links, one for the consent form and one for the actual survey.

Consent form:http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/benjami ... nt-form-1/

Survey: http://fluidsurveys.com/surveys/benjami ... sent-form/

Thanks!

BRM22,

This is not a bad survey at all. However, two things jump out at me:

1) You are a college student now so grammar should be understood. It is "My partner and I...". "Me and my partner..." just sounds and looks lazy.
2) Including WestJet as a "regional" is a bit of a faux pas in this neck of the woods. However, as they are to begin operating Encore shortly, this one may get a slight pass. Time will tell with the WestJet folks.

I have one question also. Why is there a need for a consent form which states that the survey is completely confidential, but then requires you to give your name and agree to the terms? To me personally, the only true confidentiality is anonymity.

Good luck
BL

Thank you, BL, for taking the time to write that.

We are hoping to get some information on Encore, which we have had trouble with. For the purposes of our survey, even if WestJet is not a sole regional airline, there are still some short hop flights, so opinions from WestJet pilots are beneficial to us. Also, its nice to have a different demographic for our study than just eastern Canada operators.

As for the consent form, the reason for that is mostly for redundancy. While having the survey alone shows it is anonymous, it has been suggested that we provide a consent form, in the event that any issues arise, we can prove that everyone who did the survey consented and understood our topic. That is why we have included a consent form to complete along with the surveys.
The consent forms and surveys are completely separate so there is no connection between you and your answers.
