Okay, so I want to rent a Citrabia. Just to goof around in. Like in the good old days. I call Harv's. like just now. Okay, I know the prices are higher than during the Jurassic period. The guy i talked to didnt seem to have much of a clue. Anybody ever rented from these guys? Not as a time hungry pilot type, but for total shits and giggles? Details? Minimum hours if you bug out with the thing for a couple of days etc.?

I renewed my instructor rating there a while back and did some work on the Citabria for shits and giggles. The checkout on the Citabira was reasonable (they just made me do some circuit work given that I had time on type). The price was in line with what plane rentals are going for these days. The school is one of the better ones that I have dealt with (professional but not anal). I don't know what their policy is on taking the plane for multiple days.
Overall I'd say they are a good place to rent.

Tailwheel checkouts. Lots of fun. You'll learn what your feet are for in a airplane and notice an improvement in your overall flying skills.

Short and long term rentals are welcome, depending how busy the airplane is and how long you want it.

Time for a checkout varies wildly depending on the pilots background and currency, 2-10 hours...average is around 7 hours if you have no previous tailwheel experience. Less if you already have tailwheel time. We'll let you go solo in the airplane as soon as you and the instructor feel comfortable, however going solo does not mean the checkout is over. Cross winds and wheel landings usually take more practice. We'll judge the conditions together and gradually "let the leash out" as you gain experience. A CItabria in dead calm conditions is one thing, but in a cross wind entirely another.

Aerobatic training is another option and can be combined with a tailwheel checkout. Right now we can only do acro training in Steinbach.

We have 2 Citabria in the fleet: C-GIBA (Steinbach), and C-GZKC (St. Andrews). Both are year 2000 American Champion Aurora 7ECA. We can do tailwheel checkouts and RPP, PPL, and CPL training in them.

The mods are quite pleasant actually. Things just disappear sometimes.

Thanks for the info on Harv's. It seems to me like a really great place to go play with cool planes and learn some skills. Relatively affordable too.
