A320 Maintenance endorsement
Any one might have an idea about A320 AirBus Maintenance edorsement training coming up in canada.
Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
I do believe this topic has been discused previously----but ask your current employer---if they run the iron they should know the trainers--- the benifit of a individual taking a course and not working on the type (not saying youre not) is debateable. good luck

Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
The cost for two years of school, apprenticing for four years at poverty wages, a ten thousand dollar tool set that never leaves the hangar, the AME license applicationn fee, fee to write the CARs exam to end up a fresh AME making around $20/hr has debatable benefits too. But spend an extra few thousand of your own dime to walk into a better paying job you get an ROI in six months, but thats too controversial.

I think I need to catalogue my "tool set"

OKOK I factored in sentimental value, but the point stands
Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
what is ROI? anyone with only 10 grand into their tools is pretty new to the biz
Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
I think he means Return On Investment. I was trying to come up with a different TLA with similar meaning to ACA out of ROI at first.
$10,000... Probably a reasonable estimate for an average. I've seen boxes that look like they were stocked with one trip to Princess Auto about 20 years ago and I've seen boxes that bear evidence that the owners might benefit from attending a few meetings of Snap On Addicts Anonymous.
As for paying for type training out of pocket, I'm pretty dubious about the true ROI on that.
A search of TC website should provide you with the list of current approved courses/providers.

Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
21$ to 26$ licenced with no endorsements. 26$ to 34.50$ with endorsements.
That was for a Jazz offering for "E" licensed guys a few weeks ago. An average 7 dollar an hour raise with an endorsement. Working 40 hours a week thats 7000 in six months. How much is a Q400 avionics course? 5Gs? I heard Encore is putting guys through that course and have to sign on for three(!) years before they have to repay it. I bet Westjet doesnt even have to pay for Q400 courses, they probably throw them in free when they made a what? 100 million dollar order? Who doesnt have, or cant come up with 5 grande to take the course then if you want walk out in six months if you dont like it or get a better deal somewhere else?
Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
Everyone has to weigh the options as they pertain to their own situation. The scenario you illustrate makes it sound reasonable to pony up yourself. (One's freedom should have a significant value)
That said, I doubt you'd get a seat on an A320 maintenance course for $5000. Add in 4 - 6 weeks off work with no pay, plus away from home living expenses if the course doesn't happen to be offered within commuting distance and you're looking at a pretty serious investment, especially if there's no guarantee of employment or endorsement after the fact.
I presume most people looking at paying for a course themselves are either not working for a company that operates the equipment in question, or haven’t made the cut to be sent on course by the company they work for that does operate the equipment.
In the first case, yes, maybe it will get you in the door and pay off in the end with a better paying situation than you’re currently in. In the second case, if the company isn’t making the investment in the AME in the form of type training courses, it may mean they don’t intend to grant ACA to that person anyway, in which case having taken the course isn’t likely going to make a difference.

Re: A320 Maintenance endorsement
Hi Guys,
A friend of mine is running an A319/320/321 course with cfm56 and V2500 in YEG starting 30 July, end 31 August. I believe he has a few spare seats, contact me if anyone is interested, and I will forward your info.
Cheers
