Really? Do you now Dirk Evers? (pilot in the video)Cat Driver wrote:Interesting video.
I flew PH-PEP in 2003 at least I think it was 2003.
Because you CAN!why ... would you want the field to go IMC?

Because when you turn smoke on, you shouldn't look like you have engine trouble. You should look like SMOKE is ON! I agree that looks a little anaemic.trey kule wrote:Now why, if you are performing aerobatics at an airshow would you want the field to go IMC?
Could I put one in my Slingsby?Colonel Sanders wrote:It's not hard to make a good smoke system - and
you don't need an exotic aircraft to put it on.
I helped a friend of mine put a smoke system on
his RV-8 (cost $210, weight 2.5 lbs empty) and
it's AWESOME!
Actually comes in handy when you want someone
to see you - just flick the smoke on for a couple
seconds, and there is a giant white arrow in the
sky, pointing at you![]()
I love smoke. Took off yesterday. Pulled vertical
at the end of the runway and couldn't resist flipping
the smoke switch on, drawing a nice vertical line in
the sky. Nosed over and hovered motionless at the
top of the vertical, about a 30 degree nose up
pitch attitude, walking it through a full power stall,
just pouring smoke down underneath me. After
a few seconds, got bored, flicked the smoke off
and drove off.
Another fun thing is to run smoke through a torque
roll, and tailslide rolling backwards, down into a cloud
of your own smoke.

I know, David Suzuki, Al Gore and Arlo Speer hate me.
Got that.
I passed the message, he liked!Colonel Sanders wrote:Could someone pass on the message to the owner,
that he needs to pull the smoke oil lines from the
exhaust and clean the nozzles out with a needle
rattail file?
What happens is that over time, carbon builds up
and restricts the flow.
A few minutes cleaning the nozzles, and he will get this:

If the wind is calm, with a good smoke system you
ought to be able to make the airfield go IFR![]()
Look at videos by Skip Stewart and Sean Tucker.
Those guys know how to make good smoke.
Say what about this smoke? It's keep on hanging in the sky (almost no wind) the Sea Fury, that's what I call good smoke trail....Colonel Sanders wrote:It's not hard to make a good smoke system - and
